This mural was created in summer 2015 in cooperation with “Lampedusa in Hamburg” in the Bernhard-Nocht-Straße on St.Pauli. Under the name “Lampedusa in Hamburg” about 300 refugees have been organizing themselves since March 2013 to demand a permanent right of residence with work permit as a group according to §23 of the german Residence Act.
The mural, in which all kinds of motifs are arranged in a colorful patchwork, is intended to draw attention to the demands of the initiative: “Lampedusa in Hamburg – We are here to stay” and “Work permit for everyone!
Many thanks to Hafenstraße St. Pauli eG for providing the façade and to the residents and passersby for their feedback and the fruitful exchange!
