Collective Mapping

We have been and are involved in various collective mapping processes in the context of current social movements and struggles in Europe and Latin America. Depending on the objectives and general conditions, there are different workshop formats – from mapping in (semi-)public space, to mapping processes as internal reflection, to workshops where the concrete development of a map is in the foreground. Please contact us if you are interested in workshops on collective mapping.

Mapping with Some Call Us Balkans

Invited by the ZKU, which we still remember very well as the location of the release event of Not-an-atlas, we organised a collective mapping workshop with the actors of the cultural cooperation project Some Call Us Balkans in October 2021. “Some Call Us Balkans (SCUB) is a transdisciplinary inquiry that explores and mobilises moments of […]

Body Mapping at Birmingham UCU Teachouts

As part of the Birmingham UCU Teachouts, we conducted the workshop “Bodies, Maps, Words: A Creative Writing Workshop” with James Lewis and Cristina Fernández Recasens. Starting from the question of how we unlearned to perceive geographical space through physical feelings and intentions by maps, we asked how we actually perceive and create university space with our bodies.

eco*walking beyond – mapping, narrating

In December 2019, in cooperation with some of our long-time fellow academics, activists and friends, we organized a series of activities on mapping, walking and narrating urban space.

sOs – school WITHOUT school

sOs – school WITHOUT school („Schule OHNE Schule“) means for us learning in society. That implies leaving the school building: Out of the classroom, on streets, in parks and on squares. Instead of curriculum and authority figures, we dealt with self-organised discussions, decisions and actions. Learning in and as society also means cooperation in heterogeneous (learning) groups. Together with students* from the 5th to 9th grade of the Gemeinschaftsschule West and Uhland-Gymnasium we explored Tübingen in March and April 2018.

Arriving!

With their latest project, “New Experts”, Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) seeks to recognize high-school students of the Staatliche Europaschulen Berlin as experts regarding questions of migration and arriving in a new society. In our cooperation with the HKW, we tried not to focus on the prevalent discourse in which migration is often presented as a problem. Rather, we adopted a post-migrant approach that accepts migration and arriving as one basic element in society occurring on different scales and integrating physical-spatial as well as social or psychological phenomena.

Collective garden mapping and garden bike tour in Medellin
